Facebook: Sparth is now on as 'Sparth Community Centre' ~ simply click on the logo to visit us!

Membership Scheme: our membership scheme, whereby a household (not an individual) will donate £1/week to the Centre, will start on Monday 6th May. For further details of the benefits of becoming a member, or to become a member, please call in at the Centre.

Nursery Vacancy: due to a change in her personal circumstances Andrea Roberts, our Nursery Leader-in-Charge, has had to resign her post. Therefore, we have a vacancy for a Leader-in-Charge. The successful applicant must hold a NNEB / NVQ Level 3 or higher in Children's Care, Learning & Development, Early Years Practice or equivalent, and the post will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring (formerly CRB) disclosure check.

Closing date for applications: Friday 7th June 2013 ay 3.00pm. Interviews will be held the week beginning Monday 24th June, and the successful applicant will take up post on 5th September 2013.

For an application pack, or if you have any queries, please call in at Sparth Community Centre, email craigsparth@yahoo.co.uk or ring us on Rochdale (01706) 527276 ~ please ask for Kenny Farrar or Craig Halstead. Alternatively, please send your up-to-date CV, which must adequately demonstrate your suitability for the post, to Craig Halstead at the above address or via email.

Councillor's Surgeries: our Ward Councillors hold a surgery in the Centre, as follows:

  • Cllr Mohammed Zaman &/or Cllr Terry Linden: on the 3rd Saturday of each month, from 11.00 - 12.00 noon.

If you have any issues you would like to raise with either Councillor, please call in on the above days ~ no appointment is necessary. Alternatively, Centre staff will be happy to pass on contact details for any of the Milkstone & Deeplish ward councillors.

Homework Help: does your child need extra help with their school work/homework? Rochdale Tutors are now running a school work/homework help session for children aged 4-16 years in the Centre every Saturday, between 10.00am to 2.30pm (a session is 1.5 hours). The tutors are qualified teachers who have had a CRB check, and the charge per session is from £5 per child. For further details, please ring 07583 607653, or visit the RochdaleTutors website.

Big Lottery Fund: we are delighted to report Saturday Club has been successful in applying for an Award For All grant of £4,172, to promote community cohesion through play. The grant will be used to purchase new equipment and resources, including new child-sized round & rectangular tables, and will enable us to get the Centre's pool table recovered. As well as Saturday Club, the new equipment and resources purchased will also be used by other childrens groups within the Centre.
