AFTER SCHOOL CLUB, GIRLS GROUP & SATURDAY CLUB

As part of the Council's efficiency savings, funding for these childrens' groups was withdrawn in March 2011 ~ however, we have secured external funding from Lloyds TSB Foundation, and all three groups were re-launched in September 2011.

All three groups are for children aged rising 5 - 12 years (that is, children in Reception Class to Year 7), and there is a nominal charge of 40p per child per session.

All three groups are open during school term time only.

PLAYSCHEME

Activity-based holiday playscheme held during the Easter and Summer holidays - three days per week from 10.00am to 3.00pm, for two weeks at Easter and three weeks at Summer. A maximum of 70 children aged 5-11 years are registered - playscheme currently has a full register, with a waiting list of children wanting to join. Staffed by Centre staff and a large number of experienced and mostly qualified volunteers.

Note: from 31st August 2008, as an activity-based playscheme, focusing on art/craft and sports activities, playscheme is exempt from Ofsted registration.

Funded by a grant from RADPAC (Rochdale And District Play Action Council). Cost per child:

  • 5-11 year old children on Centre-based scheme: £1 per day for children living in the Sparth area, £2 per day for all other children.
  • rising 12-14 year old children on the older scheme: £2 per day for children living in the Sparth area, £4 per day for all other children.

Fees for children on the rising 12-14s scheme are payable in advance, in full, to deter children from picking and choosing which sessions they want to attend.

Officers of the Management Group: Gillian Rushton (Chair), Pamela Farrar (Secretary) & Craig Halstead (Treasurer).
